Chinese Empire Army [shoulder insignia] - International Encyclopedia of uniforms and insignia

Chinese Empire Army [shoulder insignia]

The Chinese Imperial Army had very elaborate parade dress insignia. They were presented on jacket cuffs, on jacket collars and on the shoulder boards. For the NCOs and privates the rank was written directly on a shoulder boards which have the background of the army branch color. Officers of the combat services had "German style" shoulder knots with a gold cord. The soldiers of non-combat branches with the ranks equivalent to officer´s ranks had similar insignia but with silver cord replacing the gold one.

The drawings are taken from the color plates from old German booklet copyrighted as "E. Huebner, Leipzig, 1910"
