In 1935, the State Military Reformed Real Gymnasium was established in Moravská Třebová. The pupils of the school were not considered soldiers; they were children of professional soldiers, legionnaires, and other state employees. The purpose of the school was to prepare students for studies at civilian universities. During its relatively short existence, more than 700 pupils attended the school, including several girls. After the occupation of the border regions by the German army in October 1938, the school ceased its activities and the pupils were transferred to Hranice na Moravě, where they completed the school year.
